Chocolate Chip Cookies

Tomorrow Harry Jack, Margaux and I are going to visit Danny, Dan Dan and Maddie at camp. I thought I would be a good mom and bring them some home made Chocolate Chip Cookies.
When I was in college and first married, I used to make a couple batches of these cookies, EVERY Friday. I would take them to my father's office and pass them around to the employee's in the plant and then leave the rest on the conference table for my dad to enjoy. I have made several hundred dozen of these sweet little cookies in the past years.

Once we moved to Florida, I stopped baking like I used to. This state is just not your sweet southern cozy state and I just don't enjoy baking here. I do miss it, especially in the Fall. But today I had a hanker'in for some Chocolate Chip Cookies. I made 2 sheets of cookies and then took the remaining dough and put it in the freezer in perfect little bite size pieces for a little "pick me up" whenever needed.

Sadly, at 16 months, this is Margaux's first experience with my home made Chocolate Chip Cookies. She didn't like it when I said, "no more."

Sweet girl, this is not a good picture of you. You need to learn to NEVER smash your chin into your neck when getting your picture taken. Not flattering!

Desperate, she tries to steal the rest of Harry Jack's cookie. She was caught, but then succeeded a few minutes later when Harry Jack left the room again and his cookie was unattended.

Here's a little helpful hint. Use Butter Flavor Crisco in your cookie recipe's that call for butter. It makes a better shaped cookie and tastes good too!

That is the cutest pic of MJ! And I'm so glad that you are baking again!! That reminds me...I always tell all of my friends about how you would go to Sam's and buy a ton of ingredients to prepare your meals for the month that you would freeze and eat whenever. I talk like you do that all the time! It was probably 8 or 9 years ago when you told me that, so you may be out of that habit now- you may have a few other things that you are busy with!!

DENISE! My mouth started to water when I saw the picture of your famous CC cookies. YUMMY! I want to take one right off the picture. Maybe when you're here next week, you can pull out those baking skills again. I remember trying so hard to get my cookies to taste like yours and you told me you had a secret ingredient that you would NEVER tell me. Finally, one day you told me about the butter crisco. BRILLIANT! I tell you folks Denise is the best chocolate chip cookie baker. Danny and the kids will be so happy tomorrow! You're a good wifey and mommy!

Those cookies look yummy!

I do have a question and it may sound not so smart, but just to clarify - do you use butter flavored cricso in place of the butter in the recipe?

I agree with Dolly....wish I had one of those cookies now! The trouble is, you can't eat just one. Those cookies are delicious!!! You're the best cookie maker, Denise.

Those cookies are so perfectly round...how do you do it?? Yum, Yum!! Now listen here, you let that sweet child eat as many cookies as she wants. Don't you say no to her!

Margaux and I have the double chin thing in common-I feel her pain.

My mom told me the Crisco things years ago so I have always substituted Crisco for butter. BUT, I've never tried the butter flavor. Hmmm...me thinks I may have to do that next time!

You're going to VA next week? You Reber girls sure do travel home a lot...I know Jenius LOVES having her sweet girls all around her!

Yes Nancy, use Butter Flavor Crisco in place of butter. It works great!

I cannot wait to go home! Just a few more days!

2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter flavor crisco
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together. In separate bowl mix together:

2 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt

Slowly combined the flour mixture to the sugar mixture, then stir in one bag of chocolate chips.

Shape into balls and bake at 350 for 7-8 minutes. I bake mine for just over 7 minutes.

I can just hear her getting mad:) Have fun visiting the campers. I bet Maddie and Danny will be so happy to see their MOmmy with cookies.

Hey Denise, the butter flavored crisco does make the BEST cookies. I learned that trick a few months ago and now I seem to make cookies every week! yikes! They are just SO delish!

The thing is, Denise can give out her recipe and one can make them but they still won't taste like hers. I'm telling you, I think she puts a secret ingredient in there or maybe it's that she talks to her batter? I don't know but they are DELISH!

I made these today! I haven't tried them yet, but my children think they are so yummy.
