My Danny Boy ...

My Danny Boy is a bright child. He is an "A" honor roll student. But, yesterday on the way home from school he cracked me up, and for a moment I thought to myself, "How much money are we spending each month for his education?

We were almost home from school yesterday when we passed this HUGE American flag that proudly waves its stars and stripes in the Florida breeze. We see this flag every day but yesterday it sparked some patriotic interest in my Dan Dan.

He began telling us that there is an American flag in a museum in Washington DC and it has all kinds of bullet holes in it from the Revolutionary War. Then he started telling me that there is an American flag in the museum that is HUGE. This particular flag has stars that are something like 10 feet wide, and the flag itself is one inch thick??? Sadly, at this point, I started to fade out from the flag chatter in the truck. I was focusing on what I need to get done at home before we needed to head back out to
Awana.

Anyway, I soon came back to my senses when I heard Danny say, "and mom, do you know who sewed the flag?"

"Who Dan Dan?" I said.

"Some girl named RUTH." He said.

"Ruth???" I said. "How about Betsy."

Then he said, "Oh yeah, Betsy RUTH."

I laughed and then corrected him. It was cute.

This is why I love boys. They don't grow up as quick as girls. I believe that is purposely part of Gods plan for boys.

They say and do the cutest, sweetest little boy things.

Oh, and this Spring or Summer, when we are on vaca in old Virginny, we are going to DC to see that wonderful American flag.

That's cute, Denise. At least he was listening to the lesson....and learned most of it. I think it will be great going to DC this summer and seeing all that stuff...and I want to go to the DC Zoo, too. Maybe we can take the train!! Ha ha. Nice post. Can't wait for you all to come for spring break.

That is a HOOT. I used to dress up as a Betsy Ross and have a Betsy Ross doll. Does Dan Dan want to borrow it for show and tell!!?!?

Funny boy. Funny Story. Betsy Ruth! :) Yes, I think you should definately visit DC to help clear up some of his confusion.

Dan Dan reminds me alot of Adam and I just know if we lived closer they would be good friends. They seem to share the same interests!

Patriotism is awesome. I love that he thinks the flag is 1 inch thick. What I really love is knowing another mom totally zones out when her kids are blabbing on and on!!!! :)

Honey, which two recipes did you just try out? Me want to know.

Sweetie, it was 2 recipes from last months "All You" mag.

London broil---actually I was supposed to use flank steak, but daddy said flank was a cheap cut--something that housewives use--that Daddy, he's a funny man!

Then I also made Coka Cola cake--a recipe from that same mag. It was good, it just didn't look like the picture.
