HILARIOUS!!!! Now, Danny is my age. Didn't his Christian school do away with the ruffled blouse tuxes in the 70's??? I'm sure Dan the Man LOVES the fact that you pulled this picture out. That is the face I remember from meeting Danny as a freshman.
Denise, you look so pretty in your picture. I love the permed hair. That was a good look for us thin-haired girls. That is the only time in my life when I looked like I had GOBS of hair. You are very photogenic.
What a suspenseful day that was....I remember. Daddy and I knew what was going to happen, and we couldn't wait!!! You make such a wonderful couple, and you've made a beautiful family as well. Can't wait to see what the next few years will bring in your life. I'm so glad Danny asked you to marry him, and you accepted!!!
That is a hoot! Good post, Denny. JesseRuth turned 15 today and she was born in 94 so she was TWO when Dan the Man got down on his knee. I kinda wanna hear the proposal story now!
I can't wait to show Derek the pic of Dan! He's in bed, but you can bet that I'll call him in the morn when I get up, around 9 am, and tell him to look at it. I'm sure the whole office will get a good laugh. Not that it's funny or anything. See you at the park!
Danny's picture was taken in 1987. mine was in 1991. (He married him a young'in.)
The engagement flower was tulips (one of my two favorites), and we had dinner at a restaurant called Crown Sterling.
Then a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway, where Danny first kissed me.
We dated about 5 months before we were engaged, but we were good friends for a couple of years. We were married 5 months after our engagement.
Side note: Danny asked me to marry him the day after my family and I returned home from Israel---a trip that I was an absolute witch on, because I missed my Danny SO much. There are plenty of stories from that trip that my sweet sisters would LOVE to tell.
Ugggh. Let's just say that I was Denise's roomate on that Israel trip and I will attest to the fact that she missed Dan the Man. She had a few breakdowns while we were there and I was wondering how I was the lucky one who got to room with her?! Just kidding, Denise. hey, if anything, it's a funny story about the room service guy in Tiberias bringing Dolly and me a Diet Coke, us laughing at the thought of giving him a piece of gum as a tip, and you CHEWING US OUT while crying, telling us what jerks we were. Yikes!!!!
NOW I know why you've always liked those Duggars...you first kissed the night you got engaged! Although, Mr. and Mrs. Duggar would have said to forgo the kiss and stick to just hand holding. :)
That is funny about the trip to Israel! I've so acted like that before and looking back now, don't you wish you could have just enjoyed the trip knowing what exciting things were about to happen? Oh well, that's just how it works when it comes to missin' boys.:)
