A True Fish Tale

Last night, after the birthday party, Danny, Dan Dan and my dad went to Boca Grand, a VERY nice private island off the Florida coast, to go shark fishing. Some friends of ours who are seasoned fishermen actually took them, and showed them the ropes. The story of how they actually "cast" the shark bait is intriguingly funny.

They hook a big chunk of meat to a fishing pole. Then, one guy gets in a kayak and rows the bait way out into the water, while another guy is on the beach holding the fishing pole. When the guy in the kayak is out far enough, the guy on the beach yells out, "that's far enough." Now you need to know that they go shark fishing at night and the "bait caster" is rowing out to sea... in complete darkness...with a hunk of meat ...in a KAYAK!

Anyway, about 9:00 last night we girls received a phone call from Dan Dan telling us that they did indeed catch a shark, a 7 footer! They all had to take turns bringing it in. And my love, Danny, was the one who "landed" it. (Thanks Jenius for the verbage.)

Needless to say, the 3 Dan's had a blast. Below are some pictures of their night. To my sister's and bro's, you will have to have Daddy tell you the story. He is funny!

The mighty shark fishers actually caught another smaller shark too. And, by the way, none of my 3 Dan's were the "bait casters." We Florida crackers sure do know how to have some cheap fun! To steal a line from my Dad's favorite movie,
"What About Bob?"
"This is making my lips numb!"

Oooh, my man Dan. Puttin his back into it!
Are you sure this shark is 7 feet?
Have you ever mounted a shark?

WOW...I knew your dad and Danny loved fishing and they are pretty good at it. But MAN!!! a shark??? wow, I can't wait to show Matt this pics, I still remember their fishing trips to the river and coming home empty handed! LOL
Love all the pics, but the one of Danny landing the shark it's hillarious.
Congrats to all the Dan's way to go!
Allie.

What a great experience. I bet they are all gloating. Not everyone can claim to have caught a SHARK. That is so funny about it being 7 feet. That sounds like my boys. I know you have so enjoyed your parents being there with you. Cute post!

Scary! Who would want to go out to sea at night to bait sharks? Daddy looks happy in that first pic. I love your caption about Danny putting his back into it! Funny!

The very best part of this entire post is "Oooh, my man Dan. Puttin his back into it!" Max and I are seriously LOLing. Good one, Denny. Good one! Tell yo daddy WAYYYY to play the part as a Florida cracker! Good memory for DanDan!

Girls, I did ask Danny if the 7 ft was a true measurement. He said YES! He said the way the shark is curled in that one picture makes is look smaller, BUT IF you straighten it out, it is in fact 7 FEET!

HPS--I just read my Dad your comment. He is laughing. "He just never gave up hope." (What About Bob? quote)

Denny, thank you so much for the cd, as soon as I opened I started my journey with the preaching of Dan THE Man, while I was driving the girls to the ENT ( by the way the twins are having surgery again so please pray for them)...Even the girls were wide open listening!!! It's amazing how Danniella recognized his voice, she told me MOM that is MR Dan, Maddie's dad...LOL.
Well tell him that it was very true and a real eye opening to many, including me! Congratulate him, and he needs to keep this coming, Let me know how much the cd was, and if he is going to preach again, or has already done it, I want to have them!!!
YOU GO DAN!
Love,
Allie.

Yes, Denise, I meant to email you yesterday. My CD came in the mail. Thank you and I will be glad to pay for it if you will tell me how much. I look forward to listening to it when I have a moment of quiet.

BTW - What does "Florida Cracker" mean. I guess I haven't heard that one.

Allie, you are kind. I am glad that you enjoyed the CD. No worries on the cost. It is our treat.

I will be praying for the twins. Let me know how things turn out.

Kristi, my treat as well.

Florida cracker is an old name for Floridians I guess. Actually I don't really like to call myself a cracker. I was just being silly. I guess I don't know what I am anymore. I was a Virginian, then a GA peach. Now....well I guess I am a cracker.

Yes, Denise. I got the CD of Danny in the mail today and listened to it while I baked some cookies for tomorrow. It was a good one. Thanks for sending it. I didn't know it cost you to get those! If I would have known that I wouldn't have requested one. Sorry about that! Thanks for the treat.

How long did it take to reel that thing in and how in the world did that do it with that little pole? Denise, you should go next time.

They said it took a while to get it in. They were all pretty worn out. No, I think I will stay home. It is too late to be out on the beach, I got kids to take care of. Whaaaa
