Hello, New Mom Here!

(Sorry this is untypically a long post for me.)
This morning I am tired, more tired than normal. It is one of those mornings where I could easily get mad over simple things that happen in my house. (ie. Why not go ahead and put the dirty plate in the dishwasher when you go to bed at night, instead of leaving it ON the counter ON TOP of the dishwasher?--see not a biggie, but it hits you hard when you're tired).

I think my getting up at night with Baby Jane is catching up with me. Yes, I am embarrassed to say that my almost 7 month old, baby girl is
still waking up at night wanting to eat at least once, sometimes twice a night. The hours of 1:30 and 3:30 seem to be her peek hours. And, always 5:30.

You see it is all coming back to bite me. Before Baby Jane, if I had heard a "new" or "less experienced" (I say that laughing) mom say this, I would have said in response,

"Sweet girl, you gotta let that baby cry!
After a few nights of crying, she will learn!"

By the way...I have let her cry...and cry...and cry, it doesn't work.

So here she is, my sweet baby who's ONLY fault is that she gets me up at night to eat. Also, let me introduce you to my therapist, Dr. Dan, who at times rolls over to give me council, but mostly just lays there...asleep...hearing nothing at all...and says smiling happily in the morning,

"So, how'd she do last night
?"

Anyway, I guess I am still a new mom, learning how to care for my sweet Baby Jane. Sometimes when I'm up,in the middle of the night I think about each of my children and this thought comes to mind,

"I should throw my own Oscars party and hand out awards for:

The best sleeper, eater, personality, labor/delivery,
potty trainee, cleaner upper, player with toys, etc."

Okay, now I'm feeling better! And, I am much more awake. It is time to "go to work." Since I have been sitting here, I have been brought apple sauce and Mini Wheat's to open, my hot tea and eggs have been swiped by two different children, and I have been given a juice cup to refill, and on a side note, how many times does the Disney Channel have to play the Jonas Brothers singing "Paranoid?????" I have heard it THREE already!!!!!!

Alright, gotta run, but before I do a BIG GIANT shout out to our friend Jennifer who is giving birth to her twins today!!!! We are praying for you Jennifer!

Hahaha! Yes, I would say to let her cry, but you've already tried it. Just keep doing it, even if it wakes the good Dr. Dan.

LOL at your own Oscar party. That is funny!

HOpe your day goes better.

I always love what you have to say Denise! You always keep us laughing. That sweet little Jane just loves her one on one time with her mommy and doesn't want to give it up. It's the only time of the day when she doesn't have hear her other brothers and sisters noise and can be with just YOU!

That could be your talent at the beach...your family oscars. Hahahah!

Oh, and yes! We're praying for you Jennifer! I've already said a prayer for her this morning but I have a feeling she's going to need our prayers for a while. She's going to have her hands full.

I confess, I woke every night for jack too. he was still wanting to eat every night until he was over one yrs old and then I finally let him cry it out. Boy was he stubborn!! But look, now he is 10 and he sleeps through the night!! Sorry you are having one of those days...hang in there...

Poor sweet Denise!! God gives us those kids to humble us!!! Piper has been the EXACT same way. After the twins we have been so determined that we are going to "crack down" with this little girl but she is justa little mold breaker. Perhaps we can pray for each other in the middle of the night and share our creative midnight ideas (that do not include smothering sleeping husbands that leave dishes on the counter with a pillow)!

Kristi--THAT was funny. I am laughing! I will be thinking of you now in the wee hours of the morning, and praying for you!

Denise, thanks for sharing that. I sometimes wondered if #3 did that just because the middle-of-the-night was just about the only time she could get me all to her self without distractions. You need your rest! Hoping she starts doing better real soon.

You are so funny, Denise. I agree with Top Dawg.....a good belt whooping will do that Jane some good. HA! (I'm kidding...don't report me people)

I don't know how you do it. I guess that is one consolation I had with breastfeeding being a disaster for me....there were nights when Mike got the hard elbow in the ribs and he did nighttime duty...not often....but enough for me to keep my sanity.
Buy Dan the Man one of these bibs for dad that have the fake boobies on them that you can fill up and put some pumped breastmilk in there. Wouldn't that make for a great blog picture.

Oh I feel ya on this one! There is almost NOTHING cute about their little smiles after a wakeful night!

You can't let her cry it out anyway, then you would have some other little peeps awake and they would probably want some cereal or something at 3am!!

Hang in there!!

Oh Denise. I am laughing so hard. I love the way you describe the dishes and introduce your "therapist". I am not going to even attempt to give any advice here since i will be needing to come to you for advice in a few weeks. I feel like i have forgotten everything. You are a good mommmy! the best! And I love when you tell it like it really is.

Just reading that makes me tired! Sweet little Jane just wants to hang and party with her momma during the night. CLAP CLAP to all you moms!

I am a little late (as usual) to this one. So funny Denise! Don;t you hate having to eat your own words - especially when it comes to parenting! And I love what you said about Danny asking how she did in the morning after sleeping through the whole thing. I think all husbands must be the same in that way!
