We Got Our Gator!

This eight and one half foot alligator, (to the left of the no fishing sign) was swimming in a pond behind our church. For the safety of the church peeps, it needed to be removed.

So we called "Capt. Chuck"...
...and, a select few of us...

...stood around and watched
the Capt. do his work.

Doing the "Death Roll."

Then we all stood around and waited for our turn to get a picture with Capt. Chuck and the gator...all except Harry Jack, Margaux, and baby Jane...because it reminded me of the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin.

So, here we are with our alligator and Capt. Chuck!

My sister Dawn is in town visiting, and it was so fun to watch the excitement on her face (with beads of sweat rolling down her face--it was a HOT morning) as the Capt. pulled this gator from the water.

Okay blog friends, what you are about to see below is a bomb-diggity video of the alligator that was caught by "Capt. Chuck" the alligator catcher. I have a few more video's but they are taking forever to load!

That is soooo cool! I'm glad you all got to experience that adventure. And I'm glad Dawn was there to see it, too. Who was fishing while Captain Chuck caught the gator? Where do they take those things when they catch them? Seems to me that there are enough gators around, and maybe they should just be killed. Then the food banks could be given gator meat, and the fashion designers could buy all that gator hide to make their products. Could be a win win situation for the state of Florida!

I saw a snake this afternoon while I was working in the yard! I ran over it with my golf cart....it was crossing the road from the woods toward our house!!!! The golf cart didn't phase it. Ooooohhh...makes me shiver to think about it.

That is cool! I bet the kids (and Dawn) loved seeing that. I love the pic of Margaux and Harry watching the capt. do his thing. BTW, I am LOL at Capt. Chuck! Who is this guy and is that his business' name?

Wow! That was a cool post! Every time I come visit you in FL I always want to see a gator and never do. I even made up a song with Harry Jack but I never find one. That's really cool! I bet Dawn loved it! Speaking of, that pic of Dawn and Cap'n Chuck (LOL at the name) makes me laugh. I think the ole Cap'n may have likey Dawn.

Whoa. I cant keep up with all your posting lately. You are on a roll.

Exciting day with the Gator! The picture of Margaux and Harry watching is so cute. I bet they LOVED it. Good thing Capt. Chuck came to the rescue. I am laughing so hard at him and imagine he must have been a unique character.

Thanks for the update on the Night at the Museum movie. I think we might go see it this weekend. Good to know it was a crowd pleaser.

Hope you have fun with Dawn.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I have a reptile fetish. I hate reptiles of all shapes and sizes and agree that all of them should be killed, especially snakes. I definitely need to pray that God never calls us to live in Florida. I would never set foot in water anywhere!!! I'm glad you got the good footage and everyone's picture. I'm sure your kids loved it. What did the skin feel like?

That is cool that you got to touch the gator! They fascinate me...so mysterious. I'm w/ Donna. This Cptn. Chuck character makes me laugh. Did you ask him if Steve Erwin is his #1 hero?

Cool experience and pictures. I'm sure that was the highlight of church that day...no offense to John or Danny!! I'm glad you got it! Reminds me of that alligator in the lake at Aunt Annie's house. I was always so afraid that Daddy would fall off his skis when we got to the part where the gator lived! Maybe that was just a tale...it scared me anyway!

I'm glad you got it before he got you! WOWzer!! We don't see things like that in our church pond.

I hope Captain Chuck was able to take the gator to a place FAR AWAY from children where he can have some friends of his own kind.

What a great experience and how fun that Dawn was there to take part in this....something that will be talked about in your family for years to come!

Denise, you Nature Girl you...who would have thunk! Now, how did a gator feel when you actually touched it? You're a brave thang.

Cute pictures and cute post!

Where was I? I didn't know any of this was going on. I would have been there with my 2 youngsters! I think the same thing Dolly does. Did Capt Chuck ask for Dawn's #? Exciting!
