Yesterday afternoon Danny called me and told me a babysitter would be at the house at 5:30, and he wanted to go to the jetty to just sit, watch the sun set and do a little fishing. So I dropped what I was doing, shifted gears and was ready to go by the time he walked in the door.
Of course we took this sweet thing with us!
We stopped by Starbuck's and headed to the beach.
We stopped by Starbuck's and headed to the beach.
We had such a relaxing time. Truly RELAXING! We need to do more of this! We saw TONS of dolphin, a couple manatee (click on manatee if you don't know what that is), and we even watched a man catch a black tip baby shark.
Below are a couple video's of our time on the jetty. These may be a little boring and the wind is blowing so some of it is hard to hear. But it gives you a taste of our life down here in Southwest Florida. And, in the second video my love catches a Sea Bass.
Great date night!

What a nice thing for Danny to do....what a surprise!! He's a good guy. I loved the pictures, and especially the videos. Sure wish I could have been there to see that sea bass. I wouldn't have let him throw it back. I'd have made him cook it when we got back home. I just LOVE sea bass. It's funny, too, that all the people came around to see the fish he caught.
Little Jane is getting soooo big. She's a precious little thing. We didn't have enough time to see her in Greenville the other day. Miss you all. Thanks for a nice post. ILY
so fun for you guys. are you trying to make us all jealous or what? ;) glad you had this opportunity...and took it.
How fun! I'm alsways up for a date night.
I live so close to the OKC Memorial (whic his supposed to be an amazing tribute to those who died in the OKC bombing) - never been.
We used to live 30 minutes from Niagra Falls - only went when we had company.
How weird is that?!!
Ah Denise! I loved this post starting with Jane's sweet little face. For some reason, I got a little teary reading it. Not sure why! It's just really sweet that you and Danny had a night by yourselves to watch the sunset on the water.
I laughed at your chuckle in the second video when all those snowbirds were gathered around to see the fish. I know what that laugh meant! hahaha! Good post!
Oh, and by the way, the last pic of you guys looks like ya'll when you first had Maddie. You guys never change!
I have MIA lately too, just a little overwhelmed. Mitchell and I are looking for a house, buying furniture for Sarah, making room for baby #2...just checked out your blog to see if July Day was still doing her thing..and then I think look at Denise, mother of 5 and she gets it all done! This looked like a wonderful date night. Makes me want to go to the beach!!!
What a great post! I had often wondered why we never saw beach pictures when you live in Florida. It looks like yall had a great night. I'm glad you got away for a little bit. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on a beach and listening to the water.
I laughed so hard at Danny being the marine life expert to all the sweet old people. They sure were facscinated with that little fish, weren't they? Hee-Hee!
How far away are you guys from W. Palm Beach or Pensecola? I'm visiting both places this summer and wondered how far away from you guys it was.
Good post, Denny! I am so glad you both got to go on a nice date. I loved the videos and the pics of sweet Jane! She is so cute!!! A major mix of Maddie and Harry:)
Major points for Dan the Man. SOOOOOO sweet. I LOVE the Sunset pictures and the pic of him fishing is a framer for your bedside table! Ya'll deserved every minute of that R&R. Good for you both!
What a sweet hubby you have! He even arranged for the baby sitter. And your children are all so photogenic. Jane is always looking right in the camera with her beautiful eyes wide open. She is such a cutie.
The pictures and video make me want to live near the beach. I just love everything about being by the beach. I can just smell the salt water right now. AHHHH.
That is so funny! I didn't know Dan was an expert fisherman. It was like he was giving a tutorial to those people. What a nice little get away evening! And nice pics, I love the one of the 3 of you. Sweet!
This is a great post Denise. How fun that Danny arranged for a sitter and you were able to get out for a few hours and enjoy each other, the breeze, water and starbucks...it doesn't get much better.
Just to let you know, corey put his Boca Grande fishing show on pause, so he could read your blog and watch the videos! That says a lot. What a florida boy!
I love how you laugh when you had an audience asking questions!
Cissie- that made me chuckle! Gotta love our Florida boys!
Got to love those tourists! I was waiting for Danny to chuck the fish from the top of the rocks - something Jeff Murphy might've done! I'm guessing that fish swam off after Danny had it out of the water so long. My hubby's done that a few times and the fish ended floating belly up, while my girls bawled their eyes out - "Daddy you killed the fish!"
