J.2

My family and I were joking last week about starting our diets on J.2 (January 2). Well, we are all on the second day of our diets, and I cannot speak for my family in NC and VA, but Danny and I are doing quite well with our diet--of two days. Danny just has 5-10 pounds he wants to see go bye bye. I, on the other hand, have a bit more of baby weight I need to shed--yes, shed!

Here are a few sites I found today in helping me stay on target with my diet/weight loss. For your "ideal weight" click here. For your "daily caloric needs" click here. To find out how many calories you can burn doing various work/exercise, click here.

By the way, when I clicked on the "ideal weight" link, and calculated my ideal weight, I was sad. Very sad! I had a weight goal in mind that I want to get back to, and now I find out my ideal weight is another 16-20 pounds less than my goal!! I don't know if I will meet that "ideal weight," but I will for sure get to my goal.

And, thank you Jesus, breastfeeding burns LOTS of calories. I think it is something like 20 calories per ounce of breast milk.
If anyone knows the exact amount of calories burnt by BF'ing, please let me know so I can calculate that into my day.

I think Weight Watchers gives a certain amount of extra points to BF'ding mamas and I think...maybe...(not toally sure on this) it equates to about 500 extra calories a day? Maybe? Anyhoo, good for you guys. We have been on a non stop eating binge that must stop. It must.

Yes, we started J2, too! I have to admit that I LIVED IT UP on J1 because I knew that J2 was coming. I actually felt sick when I went to bed. I think I gorged (that sounds like a fatty word) that day. Gross! Anyway, we are doing good. I have given up desserts until Valentine's Day. I am going to be a sexy mama on V-Day! WOOHOO ROY!

I am impressed with all of you. If I could go ONE DAY without a dessert, I have conquered Mt. Everest. I still have 10 lbs. from Olivia that I have never lost. I think I will just take up binging and purging to get rid of mine. (JK...don't sick Dr. Dan on me) Ha!

Hey Denise, did you ever receive the bracelet I sent you?

Denise said...

Kristi! I am so sorry. Yes, I received the bracelet. We love it.

I have a thank you note sitting here ready to mail out tomorrow.

It came right before we left to go out of town. I should have emailed you over Christmas but I really didn't even get on the computer. I am so sorry--it was very rude of me.

Donna, I don't know what you are trying to lose! You already look good!

All you girls are hotties...I am the dumpy, frumpy, matronly needs to get with it one! I, too, started on J2. (and I am HUNGRY!) We also started back on the dang cash envelope system (ugh). I am heading out to buy my vegies right now!

Denise...did you happen to catch 20/20 on Friday? If not, you should catch it on line (at least the breastfeeding until your child is 9 part!) Scott was at camp and when the phone rang at 10:45 I KNEW he was watching...gross me ou the door! ( But keep doing it so sweet baby Jane drinks all the calories for a while.. just don't go to recess to nurse her in Kindergarten!)

Happy Diet Season Girls! May we all succeed!

Inger! Oh my gosh! I saw 20/20 and about died! I still have not gotton over it. That is borderline child abuse!

I want in on the J2 diet. I went for my first doctors visit last week and they weighed me. we do not have a scale at home and I never weigh myself. But I was mortified to see how much I actually weighed. I am already starting off this pregnancy 20 pounds heavier then I was with my first. YIKES! What am i going to do. I keep telling myself to be good. Drink water, exercise, eat healthy...BUT I JUST CANT DO IT. I am craving all the wrong things and have no energy to exercise. I am going to be enormous.

Denise, I saw your picture on Donnas blog and you looked GOOD. So skinny already.

Way to go, Logans. I heard that about BFing but I think I got a little overly confident on relying on that b/c I GAINED weight BFing! Gasp. Wiii fit is now in possession and this tail has gotta bust a move. BMI...talk about DEpressing!

Denise, you do look great! Don't stress out and go overboard. You're a hot momma.

Jennifer said...

Oh, I have so many comments. FIRST, Denise Logan you give yourself a break because #1 you already look great and #2 you JUST had a baby! So, you simmer down and eat enough fat so that baby Jane can start sleeping through the night soon. :) And Inger, you look beautiful so you too stop that crazy talk. And Nikki, you look great too, but I do feel your pain about trying to eat healthy right now...me just can't do it either. I too started this pregnancy 15 lbs more than when I got pregnant with Max...depressing! Oh, and Kristi, please tell me where that 10 lbs is??? Do you have fat feet or fingers and I just didn't notice??? Girls, I just saw Kristi several weeks ago and she is skinny minny and there was no muffin in sight!

Okay, I also saw 20/20 and was in complete awe over several of the things they showed. The breastfeeding thing was GROSS. I couldn't help but think the mom was perverted...is that wrong of me? And secondly, how about the girls that obtained "pleasure" during childbirth and who were making out with their husbands while giving birth...SERIOUSLY???

Okay, I've written enough.

Man, I've missed all the fun. Where was I when the 20/20 thing was on. Mike's best friend's wife breastfed each of her two kids until they were four. It used to gross me out when her SON would come up and say he wanted a drink and start unbuttoning her shirt. YUK!!!! I also worked with a CHILD PSYCHOLOGIST who had a 5 1/2 yr. old son and then had another son. SHe called to tell me the news of her birth and was laying in the hospital bed with a newborn on one side and her older son nursing on the other. She needed therapy!!! THat being said.....Don't make us have to talk about you behind your back Denise. Turn them suckers over to Dan the Man! Ha!

Inger, I made myself stay awake Friday night to watch that. I was so tired, but could not wait to watch the groteskness of that show. Danny wouldn't watch it with me. He saw the commercial about breastfeeding and "No way."

Pretty much the whole show was odd. All I can remember is the BF'ing part, the ladies that had 12 or so babies--which by the way nuts'o that the one British lady was a surrogate for a couple and the baby ended up being her's and her boyfriend. And, nuts'o agian that she said she would be happy to take the baby back--like it is a piece of retail mdse!!!!!!

The baby doll thing I missed due to dozing in and out and I did watch the opening part, but cannot remember what it was about.

No worries here Inger. When the BABY can ask for "nummies" as that one BOY called it, that is when the kitchen needs to be closed for good!

Okay I just read the above few commnets---

Again JFTB, you are too sweet! You had be laughing at Small's fat feet. I agree, she looked gooood in September at Dolly's shower. And you and Nikki need to just relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Which by the way Nikki, you need to post more info about it--due date and all.

Also, when I was reading the book Multiple Blessings, Kate said she had to eat (I think) 4000 calories a day to nourish her 6 babies, which she said was hard to do because she couldn't keep it down. Can you imagine being made to eat 4000 calories a day!!!!?????

Lastly, thanks for reminding me what the first part of the 20/20 was about. I couldn't remember. Now I do. NASTY! I must say that there is not ANY part of my recent labor that was....ummm... enjoyable!

Jennifer said...

Yes, Nikki, we need more info!!!! Please do tell!

I follow a blog of this funny girl who has quads. She also said that one of the hardest things is eating enough calories. 4000...I can't even imagine it. I honestly find myself getting full pretty fast now and if I eat one morsel too much then I feel like all my food is in my throat, the heartburn sets in and my stomach feels like it will pop. Of course, I may not be eating too much now but it's WHAT I'm eating that is probably adding too many calories! HA HA

Oh my goodness, I totally forgot to mention the freaks who carry dolls around and who get sad if no one comments on their doll when she's out at the park swinging her FAKE doll! Unbelievable!

Donna said...

4000 calories?! I would be downing Chick-fil-a milkshakes daily and a huge steak dinner nightly! Wow. Lucky Kate +8.

I just wanna lose about 5-8 ell bees. That would satisfy this mom. I just want to get out of the shower and like what I see in the mirror:)

Yes, Nikki. Please let us know your due date and what's going on with you....cravings, feelings, etc. I want to know! Also, what do you think the baby is? Boy or girl? Names? COme on!!! We want answers! You can't do this to us...tell us you're pregnant and then give NO details!!!

Oh, and breastfeeding? Anything after 1 year creeps me out. At Caroline's library class there was this mom who would feed her boy (around 18 months+) for literally 5 seconds and then he'd get up and then come back for 5 more seconds of milk. Gross, gross, gross!!!

A few comments:

I think Kristi must just need a good ear wax cleaning. Where else would any weight be hiding?

Denise, you do look good and it is my understanding that breastfeeding helps the mom burn a min of 500 calories per day and often more. I think it is amazing that you are nursing and have five children and are attempting to track calories. I, too, have started to journal my eating and exercise. Remember, it takes nine months to gain the needed weight to birth a baby so give yourself ample time to enjoy these days and nights when you are up nursing and eat plenty for precious Jane to grow and sleep through the night.

Lastly, thank you for your honesty, sharing and for blogging!

Boy have I been missing a lot of good convo. First of all, some of these comments make me laugh. I'm with you Donna, I would be eating lots of milk shakes from Chick-fil-a for sure. I will say I have to start being careful because I am like Hannah and getting a little too confident with this breast feeding thing and feel like I'm starting to GAIN instead of lose. I'm going to blame it on the holidays. I was supposed to start my good eating on J1 but here it is J4 and I've already blew it BIG TIME! The good thing is, tomorrow is another day.

People! I am getting more and more fired up about the 20/20 thing. I mean first BF your child till their 9 and then the "pleasure" experience durring child birth! THERE ARE CRAZY PEOPLE OUT THERE! CRAZY PEOPLE!!!! As if it is not good enough to give birth...now they want to add the pressure of making out with your husband and having an "enjoyable" experience (if you know what I mean) while having a baby (sorry Denise to be venting this on your blog :) You can delete my comment if you want.) but it just makes me angry...and it makes me laugh a little bit to. Do you think these people are for real?

I am laughing so hard and JFTB comment on the "freaks who carry dolls". Ill say it again...there are some crazy people out there.

Denise said...

Nikki, I am not going to delete your comment--you have me laughing at your venting. Venting and laughing are good!

You are funny!

Denise, LOVE the newest picture of baby Jane! She's sooooooo sweet!

Donna said...

Yes, Baby Jane is a doll!

Okay, I"ve got to see this 20/20 episode. Is it online? Maybe tomorrow while the kids nap, I'll pour myself a nice warm glass of milk and sit back and watch:) What's up with people carrying dolls? Curiosity's got this cat.

A nice warm glass of milk??? What are you? An old lady? That reminds me of "The Ghost and Mrs. Murir."
