I know I am being vague. I am still trying to hide behind it. We still cannot believe it. We are still shocked. We are a bit numb. We did something to prevent it. We were done. We are cautiously excited. We are in AWE of God's humor! Sometimes all we can do it shake our heads and laugh.
To be frank, here it goes. Due to God's miraculous will, Danny and I are expecting our fifth baby. There, I said it! Okay stop laughing!
Yes, I had a tubal ligation when I had Margaux last year. Oddly enough, there is a 1 in 200 chance of pregnancy with tubal ligation. I just happen to be that lucky one. My doctor informed me (after my positive pregnancy test, positive blood test and 2 ultrasounds), that I was the first one in the history of the practice that this has happened to. Woohoo!
To be blunt, it seems that one of my cut tubes grew back together. My "part" wiggled past a clips, thru the new tube, past the other side of the clip, and met up with Danny's "part" and together they happily floated down to my tummy to begin a little life together. The song "Reunited" keeps playing in my head as I envision the "parts" uniting.
Obviously this is God's will. Because of the current...hmmm..."liveliness" in our home right now, we don't understand God's will, but we are humbled that he chose this clear plan for us, and of course we are willing to do it.
So please don't laugh at me when I am out and about town with FIVE children hanging off me and my grocery cart. Please don't laugh at me when my clothes are wrinkled because I didn't have time to iron them, or worse yet if I am wearing the same outfit a few days in a row because it is easier to wear it then pick out a new outfit.
Please don't laugh at me if I forget to take a curler out of my hair on my way to church Sunday morning, or if I am perspiring profusely from trying to get five children to church on time Sunday morning in 90 degree weather...alone...only to realize I forgot one at home.
AND PLEASE don't laugh at me when you see my "5 times pregnant belly" that is bigger at eleven weeks, than my sister Dolly's "first time pregnant belly" at eighteen weeks!

The baby is due December 5, the worst time possible for us as far as Danny's job/church. But, no worries, it is all in God's plan. Each morning I ask God to give me this day my daily bread (strength to do whatever the day calls for). I also think on these verses, Isaiah 46:10-11, which I came across the day before all this pregnancy stuff came to fruition. If you get a moment read these verses. It was a wake up call for me as far as God's plan for me and Danny individually and together as a couple.
And lastly, to answer a few questions:
1. The children are going back to the Christian school they were in last year, even though it is 25 minutes away and to fill up the truck cost over $100 a week.
2. We are in the process of finding an even bigger used Suburban (one that has 2 bench seats in the back instead of one bench and to chairs---its all about those honkin big car seats, we will have THREE).
3. No we are not finding out the gender of the baby. We love the surprise!
4. No, ____, I am not getting a nanny. To include another person in on our chaos would be cruel and inhumane punishment.
5. Yes, I am getting refixed and Danny is getting fixed too!
Please feel free to pass on the news! It will be one less thing for us to explain.

YES! FInallay the news is broken! It's been SOOO hard to walk on eggshells around this secret. Denise, I am so happy for you. If anyone can do this, YOU can. And we are here to help you. You are such a good mom and you are truly an example to me and many others. You take motherhood in stride and you let the stress of it roll right off of your back. This child is such a blessing from God (as if all children aren't?!), but this one is truly a gift. I can't wait to walk through this pregnancy with you and I can't wait for this little person to enter the world! WOoOHOOO! And by the way, Go Dan the MAN!
Oh, and I LOVE Margaux's face in that picture. She looks like she's saying "wait, are you kidding me? This is not funny!". I love Maddie's face! I wish I lived near you to help. I'd be over every day:)
YESSSSS! This post had me smiling the WHOLE time! I concur everything that Donna said. You are a natural mom and an incredible one at that. I can't wait to go through this pregnancy thing with you too and what a special blessing that our babies will be 2 months apart. I wish we lived closer too! Maybe one day?!
I love Margaux's face too! In years to come you won't be able to imagine life without the "completer". I mean, imagine our family without Donna, right? We are all THRILLED for you Denise and love you and your family so much.
By the way, I cannot wait to read everyone's comments on this one.
I keep going back and rereading this post! I love the song you have playing too! A perfect touch!
I love Harry Jack's face in the picture too. You can tell he doesn't know what he's laughing about. He's just laughing because his older brother and sister are. hahah!
Denise~do you remember right after Margaux was born I asked if you were going to let your mum beat you with 5 kids? I didn't realize you were so competitive! You are the best person for this job! I so wish you lived closer...shh, listen, it's Lynchburg calling you home! Are you really going to let the Duggars win?
DENISE!!! Wow--what news!! I can't imagine your shock when you find out. This little child was so obviously meant to be in this world--I can't wait to meet him/her. I know five kids will be very choatic, but if anyone can do it--YOU can!! Congrats and keep us posted on the progress. WOW! I can't believe what a miracle this child is...wow.
I HAVE CHILL BUMPS and a FIT of giggles. 4 words....THIS IS THE LORD!!!!!!!! Praise Him, praise him! I know you needed another one and HE KNEW YOUR HEARTS DESIRE!!! I'm going to read those verses right now. Oh my gosh, I have so much to say and so little space. Dolly and Donna, how in THE WORLD did you keep this under wraps?!?!?! I bet Dan the Man is like, YEAHHHHH...my little guys are INVINCIBLE...LOL. Max would be BEAMING! BTW, your children are too pretty not to have any more!
I'm STILL amazed at the miracle God has given you with this very unexpected pregnancy. I agree with Donna, as well. You are a wonderful mother, and if anyone can handle another little one, you can. I'm so proud of you!!! I'm anxious to see what the children had to say about all this. I know Maddie is ecstatic. This will probably be her child almost as much as yours because she'll be such a big help. I'm so glad all this is out in the open now, and everyone knows. Now we can ALL celebrate with you and Danny. ILY
Denise - Congratulations!! I had tears in my eyes as I read your post...such good news. Such a blessing. I think I remember you saying one time in a post a long time ago that you actually would like to have one more baby - but that you Margaux was the completer and you were not planning another one. Didn't you say that?? I am so happy for your family!! And I want to add - - what a BEAUTIFUL picture of a BEAUTIFUL family at the top of your blog!!
Hannah.....I ALWAYS LOVE reading your comments. You make me laugh....you just have a way of saying things that is sooo humerous. Keep it up! You're one in a million.
Sorry....it's humorous!
Kristie, you're right...Denise DID say that!! You told me once, too, "It's a good thing I got my tubes tied, because Danny and I would have another one in an instant". I bet when God heard that, He said "DONE!". LOL!
Denise, I came to your blog via the link this a.m. on Donna's. I don't know if you remember me (Caroline Bell) now Grossman from LCA. I graduated in 1987 one year ahead of Dayna, but remember you so well. Also, your hubby was RA with my close friend Mark Hoig at Liberty...what a small world.
I read your entry today and want to cry. What a beautiful family you have and how wonderful that you are blessed with carrying a fifth...just as your parents had five you will also. I will be in prayer for your pregnancy and journey during the next months.
We are moving to Matthews (near Donna) next month. My blog is http://happyfour.blogspot.com if you have a chance to check it out.
Also, please give Dayne my love too!
Caroline
Denise....WHAT!!!!...I was hoping for a "This is a recap of Paris and my time in the 'Burg" but a BABY!!!!! I am dancing a Hallelujah jig right now. I think it is absolutely wonderful and I have to be honest, I actually have a little twinge of jealousy. I am all about the big families (did you hear that, you girls who want 2 kids, a dog, and white picket fence). What a gift from God!!! Me and MIke have said that if I didn't have MS, we would have gotten pregnant right after Olivia with #4.
This child is meant to be and will have such a God-given destiny. What are the odds. That is one strong little embryo...it will probably be a triathlete one day. Ha!
Hannah, I had the same thought about Danny but you put it so well. YOU ARE FUNNY!
Denise, tell Danny to quit walking around with his chest stuck out like he is HEE-MAN. LOL!
There is something about this blog...watch out girls....its in the DSL lines. We just need Jennifer to drop us a bomb and we will be good. Get busy girl!
I almost forgot...I remember Jenius calling you "Loosey-Goosey" in an earlier post. You now bring new meaning to the word. HA!
Aw shucks, thanks, Jenius, YOU"RE one in a million.
Denny, would you rather be called LG or MYRTLE b/c you've taken fertile to a WHOLE new level! DUGGAR hasn't even done that. I bet you can kinda imagine now what Mary (mother of Jesus) felt when the angel appeared to her.
Like I said, the desires of your heart are the desire of His but who would thought...whooooo woulda thought...ESPECIALLY this close to MJ.
Now...important business...where's the floating baby and HOW in the world are you going to come up w/ a fifth name that you love just as much as the previous four. Not to worry...we can help...I see a poll in MLISF's future.
Last but not least, when I got the email to go directly to your blog and stop everything...I thought it was going to be a post about the DC stalker..that he bit the bait. Needless to say, me was muy confused when I heard the tune "REUNITED."
Girl, you were made to multipy...perhaps that should be your new blog title...MADE TO MULTIPLY. :)
Denise, This is Kristin North (Hundley) I am a reader of Dolly and Donna's blogs and had to come over to yours to say Congrats!!!! What a special gift you have been given. I know your family is so excited about this new addition! You have a beautiful family and this will just complete it, unless God has another suprise up his sleeve!:) By the way, love the pic of the fam at the top of your page, its gorgeous!
Wow girls! I leave for a couple hours and bam! Comments!
Donna and Dolly, I knew you would be one of the first to comment. And, I knew HPS would be right behind. HPS, you are so funny. You are right about the name thing. This will be a hard one to think of, especially for a girl.
Kristi and HPS--I did tell Danny, the night I told him I was prego, that he had some big ole bad swimmers. He chuckled but I think the fear of FIVE has him wanting to wrap those bad boys up.
Kristie-I did say that, buuut (said slowly) it is easy to say when you did something to prevent it from happening. I guess God was really listening when I said it.
Caroline- I do remember you and I remember Mark's name in conversation when Danny and I were first married. I will remind him tonight of Mark and the connection. I will also take a look at your blog too. I am sure you will love the Matthews area.
Kristin-welcome to "My Life." That was so sweet of you to comment.
Amy- you are right. This was meant to be. Danny keeps telling me we should name the baby "Miracle." (NO WAY!)
Now, anonymous???? I love your comment. I do hear Lynchburg calling...wish I could answer. As Bob Wiley would say in "What About Bob", we are just temporarily disconnected.
oh congratulations Denise and Danny!!! I know this has to be a shock, but oh it is so evident it is the Lord!!! Brent and I like to say, "God is still in the miracle business". This baby is a miracle (i know all babies are) but what a story. Brent was a surprise after his dad got "fixed". So think of this little ones future mate, if God hadn't done a miracle in Brent's mom and dads life, I would be all alone in Atlanta with two little ones wondering what happened :-) ha ha!!
OK, I had the mute on my computer on and I just took it off. I am rolling, laughing at the song. I didn't hear it the first time. GOOD JOB!
Denise, you left out one thing in your pulitzer winning, "Dont laugh...." session... Speaking of previous posts you may want to go ahead and claim , "Don't laugh... and remind me that it's not a clown car." :)
OK...NOW can I use the word...this is AWESOME! You are going to get record breaking comments.
Hannah! L. O. L!!!! That is hilarious! Denise, instead of a suburban, look for a clown car:)
Denise, are you guys trying to steal Georgia's thunder? Couldn't you at least given her a year to be the youngest of the Logan's!!!
We are SO excited for you. I have to say, after having my little one, what a blessing it must be to have five!
We are going to make this post a record breaker for comments! HPS, you have me LOL here at work and people are beginning to wonder what I'm reading.
Gosh, I am away from my computer for two days and look what I've missed!! I am in shock! This was truly a miracle! The Lord has blessed you and Danny so much already and He just keeps pouring! Just when I thought Margaux was your "baby". Denise, I am so excited about reading your upcoming posts! Especially after Jr. is born! That is great too that Dolly's little one and your little are right together! I think you should seriously start thinking about moving back to the Burg, at least then you could have some help on standby when you need it:)
Denise, I am so excited for you and all of your family!! What wonderful news! HPS forwarded me the e-mail to drop what I was doing and check your blog. I got my hopes up...and I was right!! Congratulations!! If you don't want to go so far as a clown car, I had a friend in Charleston who drove a limo as his personal car. You could fit like 10 kids in the back of that bad boy! He bid on it on ebay while he was just messing around one night and actually WON! His two kids' friends thought it was the coolest thing around. Of course, they'd always want you to drive??!!
Denise, I just had a thought. Michelle Duggar announced her pregnancy last week on the Today show, well now you and Michelle will have babies the same age! The sad thing is, you'll be truly done and she will end up having 4 times as many kids as you by the time she's done!
Denise, I just had a thought. Michelle Duggar announced her pregnancy last week on the Today show, well now you and Michelle will have babies the same age! The sad thing is, you'll be truly done and she will end up having 4 times as many kids as you by the time she's done!
Yeah....that was worth saying twice!!
Clown Car! Now THAT is funny! I forgot about the clown car. I will let you know when we find it.
You could go back to what we had growing up...a good old station wagon or even better, you could all pile into a Honda like we did too!
Denise! I better get sewing!!! And I sure wish that you lived closer... I am so thrilled for you and will keep praying for you to have the strength to get through these next 18+ years!!! Also, I LOVE the family picture- it is beautiful!
CONGRATS Denise!!! Just in agreement with the others, that you are a wonderful mother and example to many. Can't wait to see what this precious gift will be! I actually know one other person that this happened to after having her tubal litigation as well in addition to a tummy tuck. Miracles do still happen!!
Awww, man! Can you imagine spending money on a tummy tuck and feeling good about your body again just to get pregnant all over again??! See, it could be worse!
OK, I have checked your site like 4times already today. I agree with Dolly...a good old station wagon with the wood panels..GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES! Laughing Joy about the limo story. A guy I used to go to church with did the same thing but bought an old hearse and added bench seats where the casket used to sit. He could pile about 15 kids in that thing. Just a thought.
I was thinking while ago...weren't you also breastfeeding? That adds to the miracle.
I left a comment on your previous post but I think that picture is breathtaking of you and your family.
OH MY GOODNESS...CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I have been so out of blog world lately and just read your post. That is so wonderful and I am so happy for you guys. I'm #5 and I'm an "oops" baby too and we all know what wonderful things I've accomplished in this world. HA HA
Seriously, what is going on with all these pregnant blog friends?!?! Purely selfish, but all these developing babies will make for some good reading for me at night!
How fun for you and Dolly to have your babies so close...they will grow up great friends!!
Congrats again Denise!!!
I'm so glad dolly directed my attention to this post! I had been checking and nothing new and then THIS! wow!
i'm almost in tears reading all of this. it's wonderful! you know us girls all loved our huge families and your kids will too! now, you've tied with your mom...one more to beat her! but, then my mom may start feeling "competitive" and try for one more. i wouldn't put it past her!
I love your attitude and spunk, Denise and i hope i get to see you this summer!
Congratulations again Denny!! We are so happy for you here at "Team Renalds". Can't wait to see the little blessing God has given you.
Denise, I had to hop over here and read your perspective after seeing the announcement on Donna's blog. WOW!!! What a truly amazing gift. You must be a wonderful Mother because God obviously decided that you needed one more baby to nurture and raise up for Him. Congratulations!!
dayna! That would be a great name for a blog, too! "Team Renalds". Classic!
Denise
My name is Tonya (Sorrells) Pafford and I graduated with Dolly and blog with Dolly and Donna. I also playdate with Dayna as her Janna and my Emory are best pals. I just had to say wow! What a wonderful blessing from God! You have the most beautiful family and the only thing that could make that picture of you more lovely is a tiny little miracle added to that huddle. (I secretly hope for an "accident" for my #4 sometimes.) Maybe I should stop doing that! Congratulations!
CONGRATS Denise....SO happy for you guys...you are such a wonderful mom and if anyone can raise 5 kids successfully (other than Jenius) you can!!!
By the way...your new family pic is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
42 Comments! Wow! I am not even going to read them, I will just be the 43rd. Congratulations! you will look back and not even know what you would have done if the Lord had not have given you baby #5! The miracle baby! It will be spoiled. Oh and I am glad you are not finding out the gender!
first of all - I did not want to be the only "reber" to not comment! second - the comments and congrats keep rollin in and I wanted to publically express my excitement! Whahoooo!! i'm expecting BIG things out of this kid...BIG things! I am so happy for all of my sisters. each one of them are wonderful mommies (and yes darla, you are one too! already taking care of yoursef and the preparation of the one to come)
i thought of another girl name - Innocence!!! Hahahah!
Love the name Innocence! That's hilarious! Denise, you need to change your subtitle to "my endeavors with 2 girls, 2 boys, a BABY one the way..."
Hi Denise! Congrats! How exciting (and surprising) for you and your family! Hopefully they will tie your tubes at no additional cost this time? :)
Denise...WOW...47 comments! I haven't seen this much uproar in the blog world since Donna announced she was going private. Ha!
Well, what have the church people and friends said about this little suprise? Hopefully you haven't gotten any snide comments.
Denise!! Oh my goodness...I know I already told you via email..but I am sooo excited for you! What an Incredible blessing and complete will of God...obviously!
And..look I just figured out how to post!;-) I think your right about MiuMiu being spam on mine...no clue. I haven't even told anyone I have a blog except for you:)
Denise! Here are my random comments all in a jumble...I have to admit that after picking my jaw up off the ground, I am grinning from ear to ear! What was going through your mind when you had the slightest inkling?
And I was the one pegged with the name "Fertile Myrtle"?! Glad you are the one out of 200...that gives me about 399 less chances. (Of course there needs to be the swimmer in that pool...so my chances are WAY lower) :)
I am so happy for you, Dan, and the fam and know that you will be just as great as a mom to five...as you are with four!
And...that picture is excellent! Should be in a J. Crew Catalog or something.
Brenda, Yay! You figured it out!
Naj, you are sweet. As far as the "inkling"---Danny and I were both NUMB, shocked, dazed, confused, concerned, SCARED, feeling VERY POOR! I kept waiting to take a preg. test because I was afraid of the result, even though I KNEW it had to be neg b/c of the tubal. Who'd of thought.
The whole story of how it came to fruition (finding out I was preg.) is actually. It is a LONG story, but funny. I will have to tell you some time when we get a moment.
